If you have not been living under a rock for the past few years, you will have undoubtedly noticed the changes taking place in the banking world. I was in line for the Drive-Up ATM a few weeks back and the older lady in front of me was having trouble trying to deposit checks. She was trying too, like she had for years, insert an envelope which contained checks and the ATM kept refusing to take it. With the new style ATM you just insert checks and cash and it scans them and counts them right there for you. Amazing, right? Well, you ain't seen nothing yet! If you will allow me to use slang and a double negative :)
The video above is about the company Monitise. They are currently the leader in the mobile payments industry and information on the company and what they do can be found at their website, www.monitise.com.
Ever wonder how you spend so much on food? Do you even realize how much you spend on food? As we mentioned in an earlier article, having a budget is the best way to keep track of your spending. Free sites like Mint.com allow you to do this and it offers money saving ideas! Below you will see a chart from the USDA on the average cost of food for a family of four with average age children. The cost increases by $90.00 for a family with teenagers and decreases by $138.00 for a family with very young children.
So......how do you save money on food? Plan ahead, and write out a list for everything you will need for the meals for the week. My family chooses to plan out the five dinners for the week and build in leftovers. These leftover portions will allow for extra dinners or lunches.
My family budgets $775 a week for food. This includes my terrible fast food habit :( We budget $400.00 a month on groceries, and $375.00 on eating out. Quite frankly....if I eat out less often for lunch at work we would spend even less. We are able to keep the grocery bill down because we frequent SAM'S club and ALDI. Let us know what you spend by commenting below. As always, thanks for reading.
